Don't Plateau at the Status Quo

Falling into the thought pattern that the worst deeds of men and the worst deeds of government and culture come about from the direct evil actions of individuals. Is this true? Or could it be that the greater detriment to humanity lies not in localized evil deeds but in the passive failure to emphasize or prioritize the correct ones? If man is wicked and fallen, then the status quo is wicked and fallen. Doing nothing will obviously result in detriment. When we indulge in the world - not even in outwardly harmful things such as Pornography, Adultery, and Murder - but more mundane, everyday things such as "The American Dream", or the famed, "Pursuit of Happiness" something as simple as working long hours filling every aspect of your week with getting ahead of the curve economically - we can plateau at the status quo.

"There is nothing that will destroy family life more insidiously than hectic schedules and busy lives, where spouses are too exhausted to communicate, too worn out to have sex, too fatigued to talk to the kids. That frantic lifestyle is just as destructive as one involving outbroken sin. If Satan can't make you sin, he'll make you busy, and that's just about the same thing." - Dr. James Dobson
"We have somehow got hold of the idea that error is only that which is outrageously wrong; and we do not seem to understand that the most dangerous person of all is the one who does not emphasize the right things." - D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
We can see how blatant sins such as Sodomy, Adultery, and Abortion originate not in a vacuum but in an environment in which God's outline for Marriage and Family are not emphasized and our status quo is left to reign. The Sin of Omission.

"'We will not return to our homes until each of the israelites has taken possession of his inheritance. Yet we will not have an inheritance with them across the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance will be across the Jordan to the east.' Moses replied to them, 'If you do this - if you arm yourselves for battle before the Lord, and every one of your armed men crosses the Jordan before the Lord until he has driven his enemies from his presence, and the land is subdued before the Lord - afterward you may return and be free from obligation to the Lord and to Israel. And this land will belong to you as a possession before the lord. But if you don't do this, you will certainly sin against the Lord; be sure your sin will catch up with you.'" - Numbers 32: 18-23
"So whoever knows the right thing to do but fails to do it, to him it is sin." - James 4:17
