Love this quote! I did a promotion panel with one of my Lance Corporals and we had discussed this quote the day before as a platoon. The following day during the interview panel, I asked him how this quote applied to his job. It was rewarding to see a 19 year old kid grasp the concept that he can only do so much in his lifetime - in the sniper community, in our battalion, in our platoon - however his impact can be felt for generations based on how he leads the guys to his left and his right. How he trains the new members as he grows in the platoon. The other marines are his primary focus, pulling the trigger secondary.
when you consider legacy over urgency, you put more thought into what you plant and where you plant it. God has called us to consider our son's sons. a man ministers to his great-grand children by teaching his son to teach his sons to teach their sons.
